Jesus said “Feed the Hungry”, and we do! We prepare and serve dinner to the homeless residents living at Camp Hope, every 3rd Tuesday. To join us just be at Camp Hope by 5:15 that Tuesday. If you have questions contact the church office (509) 966-6550. Program Coordinator is Judy Markham.
Englewood Christian Church partners with Las Casa Hogar in teaching local immigrants wishing to become US Citizens what is necessary to prepare. Volunteers are needed for Tuesday or Thursday evenings (or both), 6:00-8:00pm at the church. You may contact La Casa Hogar (509) 497-5058 or our church office (509) 966-6550 with questions. Volunteers knit or crochet shawls to provide comfort for people who need prayers. A shawl is requested, the finished shawl is passed through the congregation to be blessed or offer a prayer for the person named. Should you wish to share your talents by knitting or crocheting these shawls, directions and yarn is available on a table near the church office. You can also help by donating yarn. Gilbert Elementary School Backpacks
This special program provides extra food assistance on the weekends to students at Gilbert who may not have enough food at home. The school identifies the students and provides the backpacks. Our volunteers provide the food, fill the backpacks and delivery them to the school every Friday through the school year. Food and monetary donations are welcomed. After School Arts
Our church hosts free, after-school art classes to children ages 7-14, every Tuesday from 4:00 – 5:15pm from October to May. Local artists and art teachers teach the classes, and a healthy snack is served to the children. Art Teachers are welcome to volunteer to teach a class. Other volunteers may help in preparation, food service and clean up. All volunteers must pass a background check for the program. Every Sunday morning volunteers gather to make 200 peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches that are delivered to Camp Hope and distributed to the homeless and hungry in Yakima. We will gladly take donations of bread, peanut butter or jelly as well as sandwich bags. If you’s like to help make sandwiches on Sunday , meet at the church at 10am. Our volunteers meet at the Yakima Rotary Food Bank – 703 Central Ave , near the Henry Beauchamp Community Center on Thursdays and Fridays to help prepare and distribute nutritious, donated food help those who need it. Each shift is from 8:30am- 12 Noon. Food and monetary donations are also very welcomed. Project Coordinators: Paul and Sharron Brunn. Young Adult Emergency Winter Shelter
November through March Englewood Christian Church partners with local Rod’s House to provide overnight accommodation for young adults ages 18-22. A church group called “The Breakfast Club” offers breakfast several times a week , with other community groups helping with donations and fixing the breakfast.
