This event will offer learning sessions on Religious Trauma and Trauma-Informed Crisis Training. After each learning session, there will be breakout discussion groups. One breakout group will be for faith leaders and the other for mental health professionals and social workers.
We will also be offering a catered lunch with a panel discussion during lunch on the importance of the relationship between the faith community and the mental health community.
Presenters will include:
Rev. Dr. Christie Love, the new Senior Minister at Englewood Christian Church. Christie and her family relocated to Yakima from Springfield, MO in August where she planted and led a church/community outreach organization called The Connecting Grounds. She has a Doctorate in Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary where she specialized in the study of Religious Trauma. She is also the founder of the non-profit The Flipped Table Collective which offers resources, learning opportunities, and training to faith leaders around the nation.
David Guyer, is orginally from the Yakima Valley, he settled here in my hometown to develop his practice and build my family. His academic studies broadly include psychology, sociology, and social work, culminating in completion my Doctorate of Social Work in 2022. From crisis work, to inpatient, and outpatient mental health treatment; David has spent a decade developing as a social worker in Washington State. The last 3 years has included helping the next generation of social work students prepare for their careers, and recently started a role as clinical assistant professor at Washington State University.
In addition, there will be more than 30 resource tables with local, regional, and national resources to explore and engage with throughout the day.
While this is a free event, seating is limited to 150 participants so registration is required!
