2-2-25 Announcements

It was a powerful and emotional day at Englewood. The theme of our weekly worship this week was Trauma. We talked about the importance of having an understanding of trauma and allowing that to inform how we engage with people, how we interpret scripture, and the practices that we use as a faith community. If you were not able to join us in person today, you can watch today’s service online on ourYouTube channel.

Today immediately after service, we had our monthly first Sunday potluck in the Fellowship Hall. I hosted a conversation for those new to Englewood in the Fireside Room during our potluck. Our next Welcome to ECC connection for new people will be the first Sunday in May.

Here are some of the announcements that we shared today:

This coming Saturday is our next VolunTeens activity. Middle School and High Schoolers who are interested can meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 AM and they will then be walking over to Fieldstone next door to make Valentines with the Residents. The group should be finished by 11:00 AM.

Each Wednesday morning at 10 AM we have book discussion group that Doyle has been leading on the book People Skills. We wanted to make an alternative time available to those who cannot attend at 10 AM on a weekday so next Sunday after service, we will have a discussion group in the Fireside room after service

Cottage Hill Place is getting ready to open in Yakima as a new resource to provide stable housing to individuals who have experienced shelter instability. We are going to be taking up a special collection for the next two weeks to sponsor at least one housing kits. If you would like to give to this collection, you can drop a check in the basket next week with a note for Cottage Hill. You can also drop donations off in the office or make a gift online to our Englewood Cares Fund.

Also, if you are interested in a tour of Cottage Hill Place, please respond to this email as we are working to coordinate one in the next week or two.

I also shared today that we will be hosting a Super Bowl Party next Sunday at 3 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your favorite snack to share and come either cheer on the Chiefs with me – or root against them- or come enjoy the commercials with us!

Some of the Joys that were shared this week were:

  • Roger and Jane Finch celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past week! Congratulations to the Finches on this beautiful milestone.

  • Dottie Armstrong was at church today, only one week after having her hip replacement! It was so good to see her up and around.

Here is our schedule for this coming week:

As always, if you need anything this week- please reach out!
