3-23-25 Announcements
Good evening Englewood Christian Community,
I hope you all had a good afternoon and were able to enjoy the day and the warmer weather! I just finished our cooperative youth group meeting at Englewood. We had eight teens tonight who all got to enjoy an epic game of Win-Lose-or Draw, pizza, some deep conversations, and games.
We had a good conversation today during our weekly worship service. We talked about the Greatest Commandment(s), which uses plants to illustrate our command to love God and love others as we love ourselves. If you were not able to join us in person today, you can watch the video of our service either on our Facebook page or our YouTube Channel.
Here are the announcements that we shared this morning in service:
1. After church our Wide Welcome Initiative Team met together for a short planning conversation. If you are interested in being a part of this team, please reach out to me and I will help get you connected.
2. This Thursday we are hosting the live stream of the National Faith and Climate Forum. This is a chance to hear from many amazing speakers on climate justice as an expression of our faith. Lunch will be included. If you are interested in coming, you can sign up to attend for free at this link.
3. I also shared about the Faith and Trauma Conference that we are hosting on April 5th in partnership with NAMI. This will be our April Wide Welcome event and you can learn more about this event and sign up to attend for free on our website.
4. We also announced that we will be hosting a fundraiser in May called Englewood's Got Talent to support our new Englewood Cares fund. We will be sharing more about this event in the next few weeks, but for now... mark your calendars for Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 PM and think about a talent that you could enter in the show.
5. We also shared a reminder that we are collecting Easter candy and it can be dropped off in the church office in the large yellow box.
Wide Welcome Connections this week:
As part of the challenge at the end of the sermon today, I shared two events this week that can be used as connection points if you have questions, concerns, or want to process any part of our proposed Welcome Statement.
This Tuesday at 6:30 PM I will be hosting a Zoom conversation or you can join us in person Wednesday at 6:30 PM for Coffee and Questions in the Fireside room.
Email Pastor Christie for the Zoom Link.
Joys and Concerns:
We had several joys and concerns that were shared on our Connection Cards today in service. You can also submit joys and concerns via our website, by clicking here.
Here are the items that were asked to be shared with our wider faith community for prayer:
1. Please be praying for Lynn Tarango's niece Tori whose husband was killed in a helicopter crash Wednesday. They have a young daughter and the family needs love and support in this time of tragedy.
2. Please be praying for the Korevaar Family. Their mother/grandmother is going through some health issues at this time.
3. Prayers for the migrant working community members.
4. Pray for Karlene Jacobs who fell again this week and broke her arm. Karlene recently fell and fractured her hip as well.
5. A joy for a mother who was reunited with her children after a period of separation recently!
6. A joy for three women from the Citizenship Classes we host with La Casa Hogar who took their oath of citizenship this past week and are now US citizens.
